Hon. Kennedy Nyarko Osei, Member of Parliament for the Akyem Swedru constituency, has vehemently refuted allegations suggesting that delegates in the constituency have been placed on the government payroll.

The MP is alleged to have confided in a colleague Member of Parliament that the Controller and Accountant General, Kwasi Kwaning-Bosompem, who has declared intention to contest him in the upcoming parliamentary primaries has allegedly put some delegates in the constituency on government payroll to illegally withdraw monthly salaries ostensibly buying their votes.

This shocking revelation has created public uproar, with a political Science lecturer Prof. Ransford Gyampo calling on the Controller and Accountant General to resign.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Hon.Kennedy Osei categorically dismissed these claims, emphasizing, “None of my delegates are on the payroll to influence the election. It is crucial to maintain the integrity of our democratic process and ensure that elections are conducted fairly and transparently.”

Hon. Osei urged the public to exercise caution when faced with such information, underscoring the importance of fact-checking before arriving at conclusions. He further emphasized the need to shift focus towards addressing the genuine concerns of the constituency, fostering unity for a prosperous future.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Special Prosecutor has already initiated investigations into suspicions of payroll fraud, citing the inclusion of ghost names and nonexistent persons in the payroll, resulting in unauthorized salary withdrawals.
