Ghanaian female defender, Comfort Yeboah has missed out on CAF Women’s Young Player of the Year title to Nesryne El Chad.
The Moroccan made history by becoming the first recipient of the award, as she was announced as the winner at the 2023 CAF Awards ceremony held in Morocco on Monday, December 11.
She surpassed fellow nominees Comfort Yeboah, who plays for Ampem Darkoa Ladies, and Nigeria’s Deborah Abiodun.
El Chad’s incredible talent and hard work brought her this ground-breaking award, which completes an incredible 2023 for the young athlete.
El Chad, previously the youngest-ever scorer for Morocco in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, solidifies her position as one of Africa’s rising stars in women’s football.
It was the first time Comfort Yeboah had been nominated for a prestigious award, deserved for her impressive performance for Ampem Darkoa in both domestic and international competitions.
