The Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) has disclosed a preliminary investigation into the viral video capturing a man placing a white envelope on a table in front of officials during the Ejisu by-election.
In a statement, Ghana’s electoral governing body further stated that the content of the envelope was for lunch for the officials.
“Our investigation revealed that the man in the video walked to their table and enquired whether they had eaten. He then placed the envelope on the table and asked them to use the contents of the envelope for their lunch, following which he walked away,” the deputy Chairman of Operations for the EC, Mr. Samuel Tettey narrated.
He added that his office is in discussion with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service to commence a probe into the matter.
