The recently exhibited voter register of the Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency for the 2024 general election is riddled with several discrepancies in voter transfer figures, the leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the area has claimed.

In a press statement the Constituency Executives, they argued that the numbers provided by the Electoral Commission regarding the total number of transferred votes and the daily aggregation after the exercise did not match.

“As per our aggregation of the figures collected from the ECs own personnel at the exhibition centers, the total number of transferred voters into Ajumako Enyan Essiam Constituency Voter roll is Two thousand Seven hundred and Eighty (2780).

“Shockingly, this figure is hugely different from the total number of transferred voters as per the aggregation of the number of voters on the daily printout of the EC itself, it is quite interesting to learn that after the transfer,” portions of the statement had it.

Although there was a significant gap between the two which presented an obvious error, the NDC says the Electoral Commission confirmed the discrepancies.

The NDC chapter in the constituency added that from the figures provided by the EC to the party’s national headquarters,  there was also variation in the numbers, hence, their rationale for calling what was provided a “bloated register”.

“After a careful comparison of the data collected from the personnel of the Electoral Commission on the field to the data presented to the NDC on Pendrives by the same commission, we discovered that the total number of transferred voters on the Pendrives as given to the NDC headquarters prior to the exhibition was Four thousand two hundred and eighty-six (4286),” the statement said.

The Ajumako Enyan Essian Constituency is one of the important areas for the opposition NDC in the upcoming election. The current Member of Parliament for the area is Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, who also serves as Minority Leader.
