Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Presidential candidate, has outlined his vision for creating jobs and stimulating economic growth.
Speaking at a press engagement at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel in Accra on August 25, Dr. Bawumia highlighted the significance of creating an environment conducive to business growth.
The Vice President explained that the NPP’s “Ghana First” policy aims to prioritize local production and procurement, creating a favorable business environment and stimulating job creation. He also highlighted the need for tax reform, introducing a flat tax system and tax amnesty for businesses.
Dr. Bawumia stressed the importance of training the youth in technical and vocational skills, as well as digital skills, to equip them for the modern job market. He also announced a program to train one million youth in digital skills, enabling them to work remotely for companies in America, Canada, and other countries.
The NPP flag bearer also outlined plans to expand infrastructure, set up a Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) bank, and establish a credit scoring system to facilitate access to credit for businesses. He emphasized the need for youth empowerment and involvement in the economic growth process.
Dr. Bawumia’s engagement with the press comes as the election season intensifies, with the NPP seeking to highlight its achievements and plans for the future.
