Dr. Kwabena Duffuor

A former flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, has urged the public to disregard a letter purportedly from his office, describing it as a fabricated document and part of a deliberate misinformation campaign by certain opposition elements.

The fabricated document, which first appeared on social media last year during the lead-up to the NDC’s Presidential primaries, has resurfaced following a recent comment by Abuakwa South MP, Samuel Atta Akyea, at an NPP campaign rally in the Eastern Region.

Atta Akyea claimed that Ghana is on the verge of having a leader who abstains from drinking alcohol.

In an official statement addressing attempts to involve Dr. Duffuor in this controversy, the former Governor of the Bank of Ghana and former Finance Minister condemned these actions, asserting that they are intended to create confusion and discord.

Dr. Duffuor has firmly stated that the content of the letter does not represent his views, opinions, or intentions.

Additionally, Starr News has confirmed that the document in circulation, which includes a yellow highlight on certain sections, is an alteration of an initial letter concerning the voter register sent to the NDC’s General Secretary on May 8, 2023.
