The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has unveiled its plans to transform teacher training and welfare in Ghana, prioritizing quality education for all Ghanaians.
At an NDC press briefing at the NDC Headquarters, Accra, the party laid out its vision to revolutionize the education sector.
The NDC’s plans include prioritizing the timely promotion of teachers, instituting the “Teacher Dabr3” Project, and introducing a special allowance for teachers in rural areas. The party also promises to abolish the teacher licensure examination and scrap mandatory national service for teacher trainee graduates.
“We will prioritize the timely promotion of teachers and ensure the availability of funds for their remuneration,” Hon. Dr. Clement Apaak, MP for Builsa South constituency, stated. He added, “We will institute the ‘Teacher Dabr3’ Project to provide accommodation facilities for teachers within new school buildings.”
The NDC’s vision for teacher training and welfare also includes partnering with teacher unions to bring on board the Government Assisted Mortgage Scheme (GAMOS) and establishing a College of Education in the Afram Plains enclave. Dr. Apaak reiterated that the NDC’s goal is to enhance teacher welfare and professional development.
