On the 9th of August 2024, the Ghana Police Service took swift action against two policemen accused of extorting money from a motor pillion rider in Accra.
The incident occurred on 22nd July 2024, when Lance Corporal Philimon Agbevem and Lance Corporal Peter Gbadagbo, the two officers involved, allegedly extorted money from a motor pillion rider in Accra. An investigation was launched into the matter, and the two officers are currently assisting in investigations.
According to the police, the two officers will be put through the due process of the law, and appropriate action will be taken if they are found guilty. This move by the police aims to ensure accountability and transparency within the service while maintaining public trust.
The police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist in the investigation.
In a statement, the police said, “We take allegations of extortion very seriously and will do everything in our power to ensure that justice is served.” The investigation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
