The Electoral Commission (EC) has disqualified the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah, and the People’s National Party (PNP) Janet Nabla from contesting the impending 2024, presidential elections.
A statement issued by the electoral governing body on Friday, September 20, 2024, also mentioned Nana Stephens Adjepong, Paul Perkoh, James Kwesi Oppong, John Enyonam Kwakwu Kpikpi, Dr Samuel Sampong Ankrah, and Nii Amu Darko among candidates disqualified.
The rest are Samuel Apea-Danquah, Desmond Abrefah, and Kofi Asamoah Siaw (Progressive People’s Party).
However, a total of 13 candidates have successfully gone through the nomination process and are now eligible to contest in the upcoming election. The list features key political figures such as Mahamudu Bawumia from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and John Dramani Mahama representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC), alongside independent candidates like Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen and Kofi Koranteng.
“The Electoral Commission wishes to inform the General Public that the following persons have successfully gone through the Nomination process and qualify to contest as Candidates in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Mr. Tettey stated in the release.
