In a heartwarming and ceremonious event at Kotoka International Airport on September 5, Dave Bishop Nana Ekow Amu I (1st), the Development Chief of Nyanfeku Ekroful in the Central Region of Ghana, was greeted by traditional chiefs and the people of Nyanfeku Ekroful upon his arrival from the United States. As a prominent figure in both the entertainment industry and philanthropic circles, Dave’s return was highly anticipated, and his address left no doubt that his dedication to Ghana’s development remains stronger than ever.
During his welcome speech, he shared his vision for spreading charitable efforts throughout Ghana. “As I become a citizen of Ghana, my good work in charitable donations expressed throughout the whole community is going to spread abroad,” he said. Dave hinted at collaborations already in the pipeline with his fellow chiefs, including development initiatives for the East Volta region, while maintaining his primary focus on the Central Region.
He also revealed plans to open a concierge service at the airport that would provide a warm welcome to incoming citizens, offering top-tier services such as tours. “We’re going to establish a base here at the airport coming this year,” he noted. Dave emphasized that the government, especially the Office of Diaspora Affairs, had welcomed him with open arms, allowing him to fast-track his efforts to secure citizenship within less than a year—something he described as a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
With citizenship set to be officially granted this year, Dave expressed his gratitude and commitment to Ghana. “I feel great. It’s a great opportunity… I don’t take this lightly. So much is expected, and much is earned,” he said, vowing to uphold the laws and traditions of his new home.
Dave’s community impact in Ghana is evident through his ongoing projects. Among the most significant is the construction of a ten-bedroom maternity ward in the Central Region, which will be commissioned on Sunday, September 8. This facility will provide a safe and nurturing environment for new mothers and their babies, aimed at enhancing maternal healthcare in the region.
In addition, Dave has already commissioned boreholes to provide clean water to communities in need and is overseeing the construction of an eight-bedroom teachers’ quarters. This project is designed to improve the living conditions of educators, enabling them to focus on delivering quality education to students.
Dave Bishop Nana Ekow Amu I’s return marks the continuation of his mission to uplift communities in Ghana, a commitment that is sure to leave a lasting legacy.
