The National Democratic Congress in the Oti Region has issued a stern warning to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the region to desist from turning the recently launched District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) equipment into partisan politics.

According to the Regional Communication Officer of NDC, the NPP, under the supervision of the Oti Regional Minister, Daniel Machator, has been pasting pictures of their parliamentary candidates on some of the equipment, despite the fact that the program is solely sponsored by the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) as clearly stated by the Administrator of DACF, Naa Torshie, during the commissioning of the equipment.

“The Regional Minister’s claim that the central government is funding DRIP is a palpable lie and must be treated with a pinch of salt,” the NDC communication officer said in a statement issued on Monday.

“The shortfall in common fund releases from 2018-2023 includes the MP’s share of the fund meant for development intervention. It is, therefore, misleading for the Regional Minister and the Oti region NPP to claim that MPs must not be credited for DRIP.”

The party is warning the NPP to remove posters of their parliamentary candidates from the equipment or face their wrath.

“We wish to unequivocally send a stringent warning to the NPP in Oti Region to desist from turning the equipment into partisan politics,” Mobarak Diplomatic emphasized.

The statement from the NDC comes after the DRIP equipment was launched in Accra and re-launched in the Oti Regional capital, with the NPP and its parliamentary candidates attempting to take credit for the initiative.
