Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang the running mate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says empowering women to be financially strong and independent is high on the agenda of the next NDC government
Speaking during her tour of the Western Region at the Tarkwa market in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem constituency, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang addressed a large crowd of traders and supporters, highlighting the former president John Dramani Mahama’s unwavering commitment to women’s empowerment.
“Mr. Mahama is a person you can trust. He respects women, the vulnerable, and Ghanaians at large and I will urge all to have faith in him to deliver on his promises when elected to lead the country in the upcoming December 7 general elections”, she stated.
She emphasized that his pledge to establish a Women’s Development Bank would be a significant milestone in promoting women’s financial independence and entrepreneurship.
According to Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, the proposed Women’s Development Bank will provide a vital financial lifeline for women across various sectors, including fishmongers, bakers, hairdressers, market vendors, traders, dressmakers, and even those in corporate careers.
In addition, she explained that the bank will offer soft loans to support existing businesses and provide crucial capital for start-ups, empowering women to grow their enterprises and unlock their full potential.
