The Candidates of the two major political parties in the United States, Vice-President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump will debate each other for the first time ever in the city of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania, a crucial battleground state.

The debate which is hosted by American Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is expected to be watched by millions of people in the United States and around the world.

This is Donald Trump’s seventh appearance in a national debate against a Democrat after facing off with both Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden on six occasions.

Although Kamala Harris has a far lesser experience in a one-on-one setting at the national level, she has participated in several debates including nearly half a dozen during the Democratic primaries in 2020.

In all likelihood, Donald Trump will go after the vice-president on inflation, immigration and the Biden administration’s disastrous withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan.

The Democratic Nominee, Ms Harris, will reecho her party’s commitment to reproductive rights, expanding healthcare and making childcare affordable.

The stakes could not be higher as many Americans remain undecided on which of the two should be president.

The polls continue to suggest a deadheat race with no clear winner.

The November elections per the polls, will come down to a handful of states including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin and Arizona.

As things stand, the debate which will take place in the early hours of Wednesday, local time, is the only scheduled encounter between the two candidates.
