The flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama says the nationwide demonstration against the Electoral Commission (EC) regarding the alleged discrepancies in the voter register must be peaceful.

According to him, the demonstration must end peacefully and no participant should be seen engaging in any violent act.

“This is a peaceful demonstration. It is not a violent demonstration. It is a peaceful demonstration. And so if you know you cannot be peaceful, don’t come.

“We want only the people of peace to join us,” the former President stated ahead of the demonstration.

The demonstration dubbed ‘Enough is Enough’ is happening concurrently in all sixteen regions in Ghana.

However, the Ghana Police Service says adequate security measures have been put in place to provide security for the planned demonstration by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Tuesday, 17th September 2024, in all 16 regional capitals of the country.

“As part of preparations for the demonstration,  the Ghana Police Service extensively engaged the leadership of the NDC and the Electoral Commission in all the regions across the country.

“The agreed routes for the demonstration in all 16 regions which have been duly conveyed to the organizers are as indicated in the attached document marked Appendix A”, the police disclosed in a statement.
