Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 elections, has strongly criticized the National Democratic Congress (NDC) management of the education sector.
He emphasized the NDC’s lack of meaningful impact on the education sector and appealed to voters to reject the party in the upcoming December 7 election.
Dr. Prempeh made these comments while on a campaign tour of the Central Region, specifically addressing students at Fosu Nursing College.
“The future of the country is education, and the record of the NDC in education is poor,” Dr. Prempeh, also known as ‘NAPO,’ reminded Ghanaians, cautioning that the NDC posed a serious threat to the education sector.
He further stated, “It was the NDC that canceled the teacher and nursing trainee allowances, with disastrous effects on affected students.”
Dr. Prempeh also reminded the audience of the infamous “I won’t give you chalk” episode, citing it as evidence of the NDC’s lack of consideration for the growth of education.
The former Minister of Education and current NPP Vice Presidential Candidate lamented the fact that “over 40,000 school children could not get their results due to non-payment of school fees” during the NDC’s time in power.
