Ghanaian politician and former chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) Samia Nkrumah, has disclosed that she was approached by Nana Kwame Bediako, also known as Cheddar, to be his running mate.
In an interview with Bola Ray on Starr Chat, she confirmed the speculation, saying, “Yes, Cheddar did. But I told him that I’ve invested too much in Jomoro. And I believe the Nkrumahist tradition must be represented in Parliament, in our decision making.”
Madam Nkrumah explained her decision, stating, “I’ve invested too much in that. And I think I want to see that happen. I believe the Nkrumahist tradition must be represented in Parliament, in our decision-making body, because as it is today, it is not with that clarity and conviction.”
When asked if she believed in Nana Kwame Bediako’s ideology, Madam Samia Nkrumah responded, “I believe many Ghanaians have what it takes inside and outside politics. But politics, anyway, it’s a different thing, because when vying for political power, I think you have to do it with a strategic aim.”
She concluded by reiterating her commitment to the Nkrumahist tradition, saying, “I want to see that happen. I’ve invested too much in that.” She also acknowledged that many Ghanaians have the potential to make a positive impact, but noted that politics requires a strategic approach.
