Samia Nkrumah, daughter of Ghana’s first president, Kwame Nkrumah, and former Chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has emphasized that Ghana is in a state of crisis due to widespread hardship and poverty.
In an interview with Bola Ray on Starr Chat, she spoke about the need for collective action to address these challenges and promote dignity for all citizens.
“Yes, we’ve been in crisis for a long time, for people who don’t have, for people who struggle to make ends meet, who struggle to educate their children, who struggle to find a suitable roof on their heads, yes, they are in crisis.
“And you know, a civilized society, a truly traditional African society, must rise, all of us must rise together. We can’t be civilized, we can’t be dignified if we have poverty in our midst. I don’t think that doesn’t somehow align with even traditional African beliefs”, Samia voiced out.
Several media reports point to Ghanaians facing economic difficulties, including high levels of unemployment, poverty, and inequality.
Many Ghanaians struggle to access basic necessities like education, healthcare, and decent housing.
