The deputy National Youth Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Osman Ayariga says the just-ended voter exhibition exercise by the Electoral Commission (EC) is an exercise in futility.
This follows the NDC issues with the provisional voter register by the EC ahead of the 2024 election.
The NDC has raised a number of concerns about the provisional voter register and called on the EC to conduct an independent audit of the register.
Speaking on the GHOne News Tonight with Lily Mohammed on Thursday, Mr. Ayariga disclosed that over three thousand names have been deleted from Ghana’s voter registration roll without the knowledge or consent of the affected individuals.
“3,795 names have been deleted from the register without their notice. But all these discrepancies have been brought up even after the voter exhibition exercise. So, what it means is that the entire voter exhibition exercise was an exercise in futility.
“A lot also went to verify and that is why we have been able to identify most of these issues. This is because some people went to verify and they realized that their names had been wrongfully inputted. Some too went to verify and they realized that their names were actually not captured in the areas they decided to register”, the NDC deputy National Youth Organizer stated.
He continued: “Then we decided to take pains time to be able to check one after the other. We realized that some names had been illegally transferred from one polling station to another polling station without their notice”.
