The parliamentary race in Asante Akim North, a safe seat for the governing New Patriotic Party is intensifying as independent candidate Ohene Kwame Frimpong works assiduously towards breaking the NPP’s jinx over the constituency.

O.K. Frimpong who owns Salt Media; Ok Foods, Smart Industries and OK Learning and Recruitment in the United Kingdom says he is coming to the race with fresh ideas and a transformative vision hinged on education, healthcare and job creation.

He told host of the Ultimate Breakfast Show, Julius Caesar Anadem, “I want to do a lot for the youth; I want to put farming and healthcare in a greater perspective and make everybody enjoy a better life in the constituency.”

The philanthropist and business magnate indicated that he has nurtured the constituency for years; personally funding a number of community impact projects including health facilities, teachers quarters, public toilets and his numerous interventions paying school fees and medical bills for constituents.

OK Frimpong’s popularity cuts across the religious divide having renovated the Agogo Central Mosque into a story complex with facilities including an ultramodern clinic.

“The clinic attached to the mosque is serving the whole community. I am also building another clinic at Aberewapong to serve about six communities,” he listed.

Ahead of elections the independent candidate says plans are far advanced to invest 100 million dollars into a number of health care, educational and agriculture projects including the establishment of a fertilizer production factory and a plantain preservation and processing plant to turn around the fortunes of his constituents, a majority of whom are farmers.

“I have brought in Turkish investors who are ready to invest more than a hundred million dollars. So even before getting voted into office as a member of parliament, there are things that I have put in place to make sure that when the time comes, we will be able to put Asante Akim North in a better position than what it is now,” O.K. Frimpong assured.

His campaign has gained momentum with an endorsement from the family of the late Kwadwo Baah Wiredu, a celebrated former member of parliament for Asante Akim North.

“Not so long ago, his family invited me and conferred on me a tile as the second coming of Baah Wiredu. They considered my lifestyle and what impact I have made in the community and they believe that I exhibit a lot of Baah Wiredu’s attributes,” he disclosed.

OK Frimpong is putting up a formidable contest against the NPP’s two term Member of Parliament Andy Appiah Kubi who is seeking a third term in parliament.
