Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed his belief in his capability to lead Ghana again, vowing to steer the country “back on track” if he wins the December 2024 election.

Speaking at a meeting with the clergy on October 1, 2024, he remarked, “I understand that this task will not be an easy one, but I have unwavering faith in God’s ability to use me as a vessel to guide our nation through its current challenges.”

He underscored the valuable insight he has gained from both leading the nation and reflecting on his experiences after losing office.

“I have had the opportunity to govern this country before. I’ve had the opportunity to lose an election and watch from the outside. This reflection has given me the kind of insight that I believe can help bring this country back on track,” he noted.

He pointed out the rare privilege of having served as president before, stressing that not everyone is afforded such a chance. “The opportunity to have done it before, be able to sit back and reflect, and come back and do it better once again,” he said.

He described the upcoming elections as an opportunity for citizens to choose a leadership that is “honest with the people” and will “eschew extravagance,” commit to fighting corruption, and invest the nation’s resources to create opportunities for all.
