The Minority Chief Whip, Kwame Governs Agbodza says Frank Annoh-Dompreh has disobeyed the Speaker and Parliament, Alban Bagbin’s directives.

In light of upcoming parliamentary proceedings, the Office of the Deputy Marshal of Parliament has announced a set of stringent security measures aimed at ensuring the safety of the Rt Hon Speaker, Members of Parliament (MPs), parliamentary staff, and the press.

According to a release signed by the Deputy Marshal of Parliament, WG Cdr Frederick Bawa (Rtd), the enhanced protocols will come into effect from Tuesday, October 22, 2024. As part of the new measures, the MPs will be granted access to the chamber from 8:00 AM.

However, speaking on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey, Kwame Agbodza stated that Frank Annoh Dompreh and the deputy transport minister defied these new directives. According to him, the two NPP MPs had already taken seats in the locked chambers upon his arrival. He also alleged that their actions were geared towards creating chaos.

“Mr. Speaker and Parliament directed that Members of Parliament are not allowed to go into the chamber until 8 o’clock this morning. Surprisingly, this morning, when I got here, we noticed that two of our colleagues from the NPP side, that is Honorable Annoh-Dompreh, my friend, and then the Deputy Transport Minister, were sitting in the chamber with all the doors to the chamber locked, it means somebody opened the chamber for them to enter around 4 am. It is possible they slept there because of what they intended to do.” he stated.

He continued,” And when we did our press conference, I suggested that we had hinted that they want to bring the military in. And indeed, the police were unable to even, remove him from the chamber. The military came and now had to beg him to reluctantly walk out of the chamber with his colleagues.”

He also questioned the police’s capability to protect the country since they were unable to ensure that no one entered the chamber.
