The Black Stars of Ghana were held to a 0-0 draw by Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday evening in the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier.
Both teams failed to find the net, resulting in a stalemate as they shared the spoils in their 14th encounter across all competitions.
The cagey encounter between the Falcons of Jediane and the Black Stars ended goalless at halftime.
The Ghana Black Stars displayed an aggressive display, aiming for an early goal against Sudan, but the Sudanese defense successfully absorbed the initial pressure.
Alexander Djiku came close when his header from the center of the box, following a corner kick from Mohammed Kudus, hit the woodwork.
The Black Stars continued to press Sudan, with Antoine Semenyo and Gideon Mensah making close shots, but goalkeeper Mohammed Mustafa produced several saves.
Back from recess, the Black Stars dominated possession in search of a goal but the Sudanese defense matched Ghana’s efforts, keeping the score-line barren.
In the 73rd minute, Mohamed Eisa nearly punished Ghana when the Sudanese found their way through the defense, but Lawrence Ati-Zigi came to the rescue with a crucial save.
The Black Stars will play the return fixture on October 14 at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
