Mahama Ayariga, National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, has issued a caution to his constituents ahead of the upcoming 2024 election.
According to him, the previous election with President Akufo-Addo was a bit challenging but this year with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as their neighbor may be difficult.
“We fought against Akufo Addo, who is not from anywhere near here, and look at the margin by which we beat him in the north”, Mr. Ayariga disclosed during a mini rally at Northern region.
He further stated the circumstances are different now, “this time, we are facing Bawumia, who is our neighbour. So the fight that we put up in the last election, this election, we need to put up double of the fight that we put up in the last election.”
The lawmaker emphasized “So nobody should take this for granted. Every one of you must fight the fight of your life,” he exclaimed.
However, a recent poll by Global InfoAnalytics reveals that former President John Dramani Mahama holds a commanding lead in the December 2024 general elections, with 51.1% of committed voters backing him.
“The final field poll conducted by Global InfoAnalytics, nearly two months before the December 2024 shows John Dramani Mahama (IDM), the leader of the opposition National Democratic Congress, maintains his lead in the poll with 51.1% of the votes.”
His closest rival, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), follows at 37.3%, while independent candidates Nana Kwame Bediako and Alan Kyeremanten are polling at 6.2% and 4.1%, respectively.”The vice president and the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia (DMB) is on 37.3%, Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten (AKK), an independent candidate on 4.1%, Nana Kwame Bediako, an independent candidate also on 6.2% and others on 1.3% (weighted committed voters’ model).”
