Ghana’s National Amputee Football Team, the Black Challenge, has scheduled a walk to express their displeasure and draw the government’s attention to unpaid bonuses owed to them by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The team was promised per diems and winning bonuses for their triumph in the African Paralympic Games held last year in Ghana and their victory at the Amputee AFCON in May this year in Egypt.
According to the team’s coach, Richard Steven Obeng, the peaceful walk is set for Tuesday, December 3, with the playing body and technical team walking from Circle to the Flagstaff House.
The Minister for Youth and Sports, Mustapha Ussif, has reportedly demanded that the team provide an account of donations received before they are rewarded. Meanwhile, the Vice President of the Republic, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has promised to conduct his own checks and support the amputee team after being informed of their achievements.
