Flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has urged the public to disregard information that the upcoming presidential and parliamentary elections will held on separate dates.
This comes in the wake of widespread condemnation and arrest of one Nana Oheneba Aseidu, a radio host with Kumasi-based Wuntumi Radio for disseminating false information about the December polls.
The Ghana Police Service in the Ashanti region arrested Oheneba Nana Asiedu, a Wontumi FM presenter over alleged claims that he encouraged voters to cast their ballots for presidential candidates on separate days during the upcoming December general elections.
Oheneba Nana Asiedu has however been granted bail by the Ghana Police Service following his arrest on Saturday, November 23, 2024.
Addressing supporters of the NDC at a campaign rally in the Shama constituency, John Mahama dismissed claims of the radio presenter insisting that the elections would be held on the same day.
“We are casting both the parliamentary and presidential vote on the same day, which is on December 7.
“I heard a radio presenter saying that votes will be cast on different days, it is all lies, disregard information that votes will be cast on separate election dates. You have to vote for the parliamentary and presidential on the same day”, he added.
He assured his supporters that the NDC would win the election by the end of the vote count.
“By the time they finish counting the ballot, we would have heard the NDC has won the election”, Mr. Mahama added.
