Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, Member of Parliament for Builsa South and the NDC Manifesto Spokesperson on Education has assured Ghanaians that John Dramani Mahama’s administration will prioritize the well-being of students in secondary schools.
According to Dr. Apaak, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, under John Dramani Mahama, will ensure that students receive quality food and education, unlike the current New Patriotic Party (NPP) government.
“John Dramani Mahama and the NDC, unlike Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP, will not inflate FSHS enrollment figures by over 2.5 million to feign success. And neither will students in our secondary schools be fed unwholesome food under John Dramani Mahama.”
Dr. Apaak highlighted the challenges facing the FSHS policy, including the double track system, spatial constraints, inadequate funding, erratic academic calendars, and poor food quality.
“The next John Dramani Mahama NDC Government will abolish the obnoxious double-track system to restore a stable academic calendar; provide a dedicated and sustainable funding source for quality secondary education by ring-fencing a percentage of our oil proceeds; embark on an emergency infrastructure drive to complete abandoned E-blocks and expand infrastructure in existing SHSs and TVET institutions; decentralize the procurement of food and other basic supplies, ensure timely food supply, and improve the quantity and quality of food for students,” Dr. Apaak emphasized.
