The Leader of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) caucus in Parliament, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has accused the New Patriotic Party (NPP) caucus of causing financial loss to the State.
The NPP caucus boycotted Parliament following the Speaker’s recall of the House after its adjournment on October 22, 2024.
This boycott resulted in Parliament being adjourned indefinitely again today, Thursday, November 7, due to a lack of quorum.
Ato Forson expressed his deep worry and concern over the NPP caucus’s failure to show up in Parliament, despite being the ones who triggered the recall.
“I am deeply concerned and disturbed by what has happened and this is an abuse of the Standing Orders of the House. It is tantamount to causing financial loss to the state and we call on Ghanaians to punish them accordingly.
He further highlighted the financial implications of the NPP caucus’s absence, asserting that their actions have cost the state financially.
“They are short of ideas for solving the issues of the country and all that they know is dancing during their campaigns and sharing money
“Let no one deceive you that the NDC is here to distract government business because there is no business. We are fed up and we are just waiting for the elections so that Ghanaians can vote out this incompetent government out. The NPP minority caucus has indeed caused financial loss to the state,” Ato Forson reiterated.
According to him, this is not the first time the NPP caucus has displayed such behavior, which he characterizes as nothing short of disrespect.
He called on Ghanaians to punish the NPP at the polls on December 7, citing their tired and unconcerned attitude as evidence that they are incapable of providing good governance.
