The police have arrested a radio presenter at Wontumi FM Oheneba Nana Asiedu over the dissemination of inaccurate information concerning the impending Election.
The presenter reportedly said in a video widely circulated on social media that the Electoral Commission had split election dates among the thirteen presidential candidates between December 7 and 8, 2024.
Police say the false information is likely to disturb the public peace.
According to the statement released by the police announcing Mr. Asiedu’s arrest, the broadcaster is in contravention of section 208 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
He is expected to be processed for court.
