John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has called on the National Peace Council, religious and traditional leaders, and key stakeholders to call the Electoral Commission (EC) to order over the alleged leakage of validating stamps ahead of the December 7 elections.
In a Facebook post on Friday, December 6, Mahama accused the EC of colluding with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to rig the upcoming elections.
He claimed that the EC’s actions were aimed at undermining the electoral process.
Mahama claimed that despite reporting several cases of exposed validating stamps to the EC, the commission has failed to issue a clear directive to prevent further exposure.
He also referenced an internal EC memo dated October 10, 2024, which he believes reveals a plot to aid ballot stuffing by exposing the serial numbers of the validating stamps before the election.
He argued that such exposure could enable the NPP to produce counterfeit ballot papers with similar stamps to create the appearance of validity.
Mahama has called on the National Peace Council, Religious and Traditional Leaders, Civil Society, the International Community, and Election Observer Missions to intervene and ensure the EC conducts a free and fair election.
“An internal memo of the Commission dated 10th October 2024 gives away their well calculated plot to aid ballot stuffing by exposing the serial numbers of the validating stamp before voting day, tomorrow.
“I call on the National Peace Council, Religious and Traditional Leaders, Civil Society, the International Community and the Election Observer Missions to call the Electoral Commission to order”, the former President stated.
