President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has extended his warmest congratulations to President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his decisive victory in the 2024 presidential election.
In a phone call, President Akufo-Addo commended Mahama on his win and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring a seamless transfer of power on January 7, 2025.
“I remain committed to facilitating a seamless transition process,” President Akufo-Addo said.
President Akufo-Addo also praised the Electoral Commission and the people of Ghana for their active participation in a peaceful and credible election.
He emphasized the importance of unity in the aftermath of the election, urging Ghanaians to come together to consolidate democracy and the rule of law.
“This is a time for collaboration and nation-building. I call on all citizens to work in harmony to further strengthen our democracy,” he added.
As part of efforts to initiate the transition process, President Akufo-Addo has invited President-elect Mahama to a meeting on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Jubilee House.
The meeting will set the tone for a cooperative and structured handover of power. President Akufo-Addo concluded his statement with a prayerful wish for the nation, saying,
“May God continue to bless our homeland Ghana and make her great and strong.”
