The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has conceded defeat to former President John Dramani Mahama in the just ended 2024 elections ahead of Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC)’ official declaration of results.
In a press briefing ahead of the Vice President’s message, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Sammy Gyamfi called on the Vice President to concede since the NDC and its flag bearer, John Mahama had won the election.
According to him, the NDC party had secured a decisive win in both the presidential and parliamentary races.
Addressing the press at his resident, Dr. Bawumia acknowledged his defeat, citing provisional results that indicate a decisive win for John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Dr. Bawumia congratulated Mahama on his victory, stating that the NDC has also won the parliamentary election.
He even went as far as calling Mahama to congratulate him personally on his win. He said, “Let me state that the data from our internal collation indicates that former President John Dramani Mahama has won the presidential election decisively. The NDC has also secured a majority in the parliamentary elections. While we await final results for some seats, this will not change the outcome. I have just called His Excellency John Dramani Mahama to congratulate him as the president-elect of the Republic of Ghana.”
