Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Ofoase Ayirebi in the Eastern Region and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate, has successfully retained his seat in the 2024 elections.
Oppong Nkrumah, who also serves as the Minister for Works and Housing, garnered 18,601 votes.
His closest contender, Alfred Osei-Poku of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), received 13,415 votes.
In an impressive show of support, Oppong Nkrumah outperformed the NPP’s Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who secured 18,124 votes, as well as the NDC’s Presidential Candidate, John Dramani Mahama, who received 12,977 votes.
Both Mahama and his parliamentary candidate were defeated in the constituency.
Having served as the Minister of Information since November 2018, Oppong Nkrumah was appointed Minister for Works and Housing during a ministerial reshuffle on February 14, 2024.
