The Ghana Youth Manifesto Coalition has organized a training program for young leaders from across the country to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to demand accountability from the new government.
Speaking to Starrfm.com.gh, Christopher Wisdom Penu, National Youth Coordinator of the Ghana Youth Manifesto Coalition, highlighted that the ongoing training is part of the coalition’s efforts to ensure that the new government prioritizes the needs and concerns of the youth.
“We want to build the capacities of young people to be well-informed and to come up with innovative policies that can influence the implementation strategies of the new government,” Mr. Wisdom Penu explained.
The training program, which is being supported by organizations such as Oxfam in Ghana and Action Aid, has brought together young leaders from six regions of the country.
Mr. Wisdom Penu noted that the coalition has already engaged with the new government and has seen a positive response. He expressed optimism that the training program will help to ensure that the government delivers on its promises to young people.
“We expect that this engagement is going to be smooth, it’s going to be easy, and it’s going to be in the interest of both parties,” he said.
The Ghana Youth Manifesto Coalition urged young people to remain vigilant and to continue to demand accountability from their leaders.
“Leadership and accountability are inextricably linked. We must make sure that we hold our leaders accountable because absolute power corrupts absolutely,”he stated.
