Former president and flag bearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has vowed to complete the Afari Military Hospital when reelected into office.
During a community engagement in Abuakwa in the Adwema Nwabiagya south constituency, John Mahama criticized the current government for delay in completing the 500-bed capacity Afari military hospital and has vowed to complete the project when elected into office.
“I’m sad as I stand here because the Afari military hospital we built was near completion, I remember my time in office, I came to inspect it, it was roofed with doors equipment was ready before I left office. Eight years down the line, the NPP government has abandoned the hospital in the bush”.
The former president called on the voters in the Ashanti region the stronghold of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to vote for change in the upcoming election urging them to reject what he described as poor governance and the longstanding neglect of the region’s needs.
“What I have for the NPP is that, the time has changed, the ethnic polities has ended “, John Mahama mentioned.
The 500-bed capacity Afari Military Hospital has 50 medical and non-medical buildings with 15 operating theatres.
It has nine delivery rooms, with two endoscopy operating rooms.
The hospital will also have a medical gas plant for the production of five medical gasses.
