The National Communications Officer of the main opposition, National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi is accusing the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) of setting in motion a well-orchestrated scheme to cheat in the elections.
Speaking at a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Accra, Mr. Gyamfi claimed the plans of the NPP would be aimed at tainting the integrity of the polls.
“We have picked intel that the NPP has now activated its rigging machinery to its full potential. In the next couple of minutes and in fact they have even started, they will be trying to steal the ballot boxes and swap ballot boxes. They will be trying to use their thugs to manipulate the outcome of the election results,” he said to reporters.
He referred to an instance in 2020 where he said the NDC’s failure to be watchful cost them a crucial election.
“Let us all remain vigilant. This is not the time for celebration. We all know the outcome and the time for celebrating that outcome will soon come but for now, we need to work, we need to remain vigilant,” he warned party faithful.
Mr. Gyamfi who speaks for the party, called on NDC supporters to go to the constituency collation centres to monitor proceedings there.
