The Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has warned the outgoing Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government against signing and backdating contracts after the 2024 general elections.
Mr. George’s warning comes amidst concerns that the outgoing government might engage in last-minute contract signings and other activities aimed at tying the hands of the incoming administration.
In a Facebook post on Thursday, December 12, Mr. George stated that the incoming administration would not recognise any contracts signed and backdated after the elections.
He emphasised that such actions would be considered a deliberate attempt to undermine the new government’s authority and disrupt its policy initiatives.
Sam George assured the public the Mahama led government will be monitoring ongoing activities related to contract signing and would take appropriate action to prevent any attempts to subvert the democratic process.
“The attempt to sign a contract on the ghana.gov platform should cease with immediate effect. The incoming administration would not respect any contracts signed post elections and back dated. We are monitoring all activities currently underway regarding the signing and backdating of contracts. Notice is duly served.”
