Member of Parliament for Juaboso Constituency, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh has expressed displeasure with the police hierarchy for sanctioning a transfer of the District Police Commander of Juaboso.
Laying specifically into the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, Mr. Akandoh said he had ordered a dubious transfer of the police chief of the Juaboso area, barely eight days to the election.
He questioned how such a transfer would be helpful when the new commander would have little time to familiarize himself with what is a vast area.
The lawmaker said it was “unreasonable” that a District Commander will be transferred to a different role knowing the “difficult terrain we have in Juaboso constituency” .
He continued: “You obviously need more than eight days as a security capo [captain] to survey the system to be able to lead your security personnel into such a crucial election.”
Mr. Akandoh said the changes had raised doubts about the IGP’s integrity even as he expressed commitment on his part to ensure peaceful elections in the area.
The MP has been in the House since he was first elected to serve in the 6th Parliament in 2012.
