Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA) Executive Director Theodora Williams Anti has cautioned Ghanaian youth against being manipulated into perpetrating election-related violence.
Speaking on Morning Starr with Naa Dedei Tettey, Theodora Anti highlighted the tendency of politicians to exploit young people for violent purposes.
She explained, “It is young people that politicians use to foment violence.”
Madam Anti urged politicians to promote peace and responsible civic engagement among young people and advised young people to resist any attempts to be used as tools for violence.
“Young people, wherever you are, don’t allow yourselves to be used to foment violence. Politicians should say the right things to young people. When you finish voting, go home,” she advised.
Ghana is left with few days to go to the polls to elect their president and member of parliamentary.
As results, there is tension and accusations from the major political parties for plotting to use armed men to manipulate the electoral process.
