Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has urged all candidates in the Ghana December 7 general elections to accept the election results as a good fate.
The former Nigerian president, who leads the West African Elders Forum and the ECOWAS mission to Ghana, is championship efforts to land on a peaceful electoral process.
The West African Elders Forum brings together former presidents from the region to resolve election-related conflicts. This esteemed group is dedicated to promoting peace and stability in West Africa by addressing potential electoral disputes.
Mr. Goodluck Jonathan stressed the crucial need for a credible election during his address to the National Election Security Taskforce today, December 5, 2024.
He emphasized that delivering a fair and transparent electoral process is paramount to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
He emphasized the importance of upholding Ghana’s democratic reputation in the region and urged stakeholders to preserve Ghana’s status as a shining example of democracy.
“We want elections that will be peaceful and transparent and credible, and then all the stakeholders will be happy. Just like the IGP said, we will plead with our own colleagues who are politicians to be peaceful.
“Only one person wins in an election, and so whenever you are going for an election, you should be ready to either win or lose.”
