Private air charter service provider McDan Aviation has disclosed that claims that it owes a whopping $3 million debt to the Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) are false.
“We don’t owe Ghana Airport Company Limited $3 million.
“It is regrettable that Ghana Airport Company Limited has chosen this line of action, particularly when the matters at hand are not interconnected,” McDan Aviation disclosed in a letter.
Background
Management of Ghana Airport Company Limited (GACL) has locked up McDan Aviation Private Jet Terminal popularly known as Terminal 1.
The move follows the failure of the company to pay over $3 million debt owed to the company. A visit by the news team to the facility reveals two police officers have been stationed at the entrance to stop access to the facility.
Speaking to GHOne/Starr News, the chairman of the Ghana Airport Company divisional Union of the Public Services Workers Union of TUC, Alhaji Abdul Issaka Bamba argued payment of the outstanding debt is long overdue.
Mr. Bamba threw the support of the Union behind the action of management warning any other partners owing the company will suffer similar fate.
According to the Union, the debt is a result of non-payment of rental and lands acquired by the company for its activities.
