The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that new passport fees will take effect on Thursday, November 13, 2025, with the cost of the ordinary 32-page passport booklet reduced from GH₵500 to GH₵350.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa confirmed the adjustment in a post on X, saying, “New Passport Application Fee of GHS350 (a 30% reduction) comes into effect this Thursday, November 13, 2025. For God and Country.”
The 30% fee cut follows a directive from President John Dramani Mahama earlier this year to make passports more affordable. Parliament has since amended the Fees and Charges Act to give legal backing to the reduction.
The Ministry clarified that the new GH₵350 fee includes courier delivery, eliminating extra charges for applicants. Processing times have also been shortened to 15 working days for regular applications and three days for expedited ones.
Mr. Ablakwa further disclosed that Ghana has fully transitioned to modern chip-embedded passports, replacing the older biometric versions to align with international security standards.
