Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Monday February 27, 2023 paid a working visit to Ayensuano District in Eastern region to inspect ongoing projects.
Dr. Bawumia and his entourage inspected a Junior High School classroom block he is personally constructing at Kwaboanta, farming community in the district.
The project, which is solely funded by the Vice President is in fulfilment of promise made during a special thanksgiving service to climax the centenary celebration of the Akuapem Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Akropong Akuapem.
The classroom block will have computer laboratory, washrooms and other ancillary facilities to help boost teaching and learning in the community in line with the vision of the government in providing quality education for all.
Addressing a mini durbar by chiefs and people of the community, Mr. Bawumia said the project is his modest support and contribution to what the Church has been doing for many communities across the country for decades in areas of education, healthcare delivery and human resource development of the country.
In line with a request by the chiefs and elders of the community, the Vice President also pledged to give the deteriorating Kwaboanta D/A basic school a facelift to improve the teaching and learning environment in the school.
The Vice President used the opportunity visit to also inspected on-going government projects, such Kraboa to Coaltar town roads, 95% completed District High Court building at Coaltar and a 98% completed concrete bridge in Amanase.
He urged the contractor on the road to double up for completion of the project on time to boost agriculture and stimulate the local economy.
The Eastern regional minister, Seth Kwame Acheampong who led the team on the tour commended the Vice President for leading the country’s digitalization drive.
He mentioned the Mobile money interoperability program, the digital housing address system among a lot, as some of the many innovations by the Vice President for Ghana’s progress in the digital economy.
