President-elect, Nana Akufo-Addo, has commended outgoing president John Mahama for stepping up to the test when he assumed the reins of power right after the demise of late Prof. John Evans Atta Mills.
According to Akufo-Addo, Mahama has done well in office, especially exhibiting maturity in the face of defeat during the 2016 elections.
“I think all of us in Ghana have to be thankful that we have in him [Mahama] a man who is also devoted to the peace and stability of our country. He has comported himself in a manner to ensure a smooth transition,” Nana Addo said when the leadership of the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference called on him at his Nima residence on Friday.
“We believe that the manner in which he is going about it, is reassuring to our peace especially when you see what is going on in other parts of our continent and we have to be thankful for that,” the President-elect said.
“He came to the office during a delicate moment in the history of our nation and he stepped up to the bench. He has held the state together.”
