The sixth Parliament of Ghana reconvenes today and will discuss the retirement package of outgoing President John Mahama.

President Mahama failed in his bid to secure a second term in the December 7 elections, which gave Nana Akufo-Addo a landslide victory.

Mahama is also expected to approve a new pay levels and a retirement package for Members of Parliament based on the recommendations of a committee he set up in January 2016 to look at the conditions of service of Article 71 office holders including that of the Chief Justice and a section of the judiciary.

Mahama leaves office on January 7, 2017.

The term of the sixth Parliament expires after a week.
