President-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will on Sunday January 8, attend a public durbar at Kyebi, his hometown in the East Akim Municipality of the Eastern region as Ghana’s president.
The move is initiated by the Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin, to thank God for honouring Akufo-Addo, an Akyem-Abuakwa royal, with electoral victory in the December 7, 2016 presidential poll.
Disclosing this during the last Akwasidae celebration, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin asked all his sub-chiefs to join the proposed ceremony to render thanksgiving to God and offer prayers for Akufo-Addo to serve the nation better in the next four years.
Akufo-Addo on December 9, 2016 was declared by the chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Charlotte Osei as Ghana’s president elect after defeating the presidential nominee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), President John Mahama in last year’s presidential elections.
He polled 5,716,026 votes representing 53.85% as against Mahama’s 4,713,277 votes representing 44.40% of the total votes cast.
