The Kibi District Police Command has launched investigations into the stolen Toyota Hilux vehicle belonging to the East Akyem Municipal office of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA).

The vehicle with registration number GV 2554-14 was stolen on January 4, 2017 while parked at the office with both  main and spare keys  locked up in the office.

Information gathered by Starr News indicates that the security man on duty after hearing the ignition of the vehicle, started calling the name of the official driver to verify if he was the one starting the vehicle, however, his calls went unanswered.

He decided to get closer to the vehicle but the suspected thieves drove away with speed.

He later informed Management of the NHIA about the incident and a complaint was later lodged at the Kibi District Police Command.

Speaking to Starr News’ Eastern regional Correspondent, Kojo Ansah, the Kibi District Police Commander, DSP Marian Osei explained that initial investigations into the incident on the fateful day led to the discovery of two number plates of the vehicle, the steel canopy cover and siren speaker detached from the stolen vehicle and thrown into the bush at Sedwumase, a suburb of Kibi.

According to her, the security man on duty and other officials of the authority at the municipal office have been invited for interrogation.
