The director of programmes and projects of Youth Without Borders (YWB) Ghana, Richard Apau, has appealed to President Akufo-Addo to create a separate youth ministry.

“A critical observation tells me that, you are focusing more on sectors, which is very good,” he said in a statement.

He added: “However, you cannot disappoint the majority of our population who constitute the youth bracket. Nana, we need a #SEPARATE #YOUTH #MINISTRY.”

Below is the full statement:

President Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo Addo, I have observed keenly the two batches of your ministerial appointments. You are yet to communicate your final batch.

You created Railway Development Ministry from Roads and Highways, you also created Sanitation and Water Resources from, Ministry of Water Resources works and Housing.

A critical observation tells me that, you are focusing more on sectors, which is very good.
However, you cannot disappoint the majority of our population who constitute the youth bracket. Nana, we need a #SEPARATE #YOUTH #MINISTRY.

The current protocol where youth and sports are combined under one ministry has never helped the youth.

That ministry and their ministers have primarily focused on sports, particularly football especially black stars for reasons best known to them.

Elsewhere, where there is a dedicated ministry for youth.

Youth development is high on the agenda and the youth have contributed positively to the socio-economic development of this country.

One reason that accounts for the huge youth unemployment in this country is due to the fact that no one seems to be responsible for youth matters.

Ghanaian youth are doing a lot of things. We are very innovative and creative.

There is no co-ordination among state agencies purporting to be working for youth.

The best gift you can give to the young people of this country is to dedicate one ministry for our activities and progress.
#YouthMinistryNow

Yours in Youth Service
