Senior minister-designate, Yaw Osafo Marfo,  has dismissed claims that his tenure as Finance minister under former President John Kufuor was hit with scandals.

Taking his turn to ask questions as a member of the Appointments Committee, the Member of Parliament for Central  Tongu , Okudzeto Ablakwa asked the minister-designate to use the vetting process to clear the air regarding some  “scandals” that hit his stewardship – the IFC, CNTCI loans and the McMillan text book printing issue.

Reacting to  Ablakwa’s question, Osafo Marfo lost his calm, attacking the age of the young lawmaker: “I think you were too young at the time to read the matter,” he said.

He later withdrew the statement and apologized at the behest of the Chairman of the Committee, Joe Osei Owusu.

“I withdraw that statement with apology,” he said.

He went ahead to explain that a press conference was held on the matter where thorough clarity was given to “these very questions.”
