Donald Trump has been sworn in as the 45th President of the United State of America Friday in  a historic transfer of power amidst violent protests.

Trump’s taking of the oath of office marks the conclusion of a politically divisive campaign resulting in his stunning victory.

He took over from President Barrack Obama.

Delivering his inaugural speech, after taking the oath of office, Trump said: “We’ll face challenges but we’ll get the job done.”

He expressed gratitude to former President Obama for being “magnificent” throughout the transition.

He said his inauguration is akin to  “transferring power from Washington DC and giving it back to you, the people,” Trump says in a nod to his populist campaign. “Washington flourished, but the people did not share in its wealth.”
