The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has launched a scathing attack on the leadership of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) describing them as “pampered hotheaded goons.”

This was in response to a press conference held by the NDC and addressed by its National Chairman, Kofi Portuphy on Thursday January 13,  to condemn the pockets of nationwide attacks on its members by perceived supporters of the NPP.

In that press conference, Mr. Portuphy called on President Akufo Addo to call the perceived NPP supporters to order warning that: “Don’t blame the NDC if the unacceptable conduct of Akufo-Addo’s invisible forces lead to brouhaha.”

Not happy with the NDC’s press conference, the NPP  has held  a media briefing of its own to lambast the NDC.

Addressing the briefing Wednesday, Nana Obiri Boahen, the NPP’s Deputy General Secretary said the language employed by the NDC in its press conference was “uncouth, uncivil, belligerent and very symptomatic of over pampered hotheaded goons.”

“As for Kofi Portuphy, Asiedu Nketia and Koku Anyidoho and their gang, we shall caution that from now on, if they throw mud on the president in whom we unprecedentedly, overwhelmingly, majority Ghanaians reposed their confidence in, we will pay them back in equal measure. Enough is enough; the rains must fall on their ravings and ranting. The NDC indeed wants the nation to show respect to former President Mahama and so they, must also show respect to Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo,” he added.
